Oleksiivska Line (green)

The Oleksiivska Line (originally planned as the Haharinsko–Oleksiivska Line) is the third line of the Kharkiv Metro and is shown in green on system maps. It was built primarily to connect the city centre with Oleksiivka, one of Kharkiv’s largest residential districts, from which the line takes its name.

The line currently comprises nine stations and has a total length of 10.9 km. Its shortest interstation section is between Arkhitektora Beketova and Derzhprom (769 m). Peremoha is the busiest station on the line. Unlike the other two lines, the Oleksiivska Line does not have its own depot; its rolling stock is maintained at Nemyshlyanske Depot.

According to the current development plans, the line is to be extended southwards with the construction of Derzhavinska and Odeska stations. In the more distant future, further extensions have been proposed towards Kharkiv Airport in the south and the town of Derhachi in the north.

Timeline of line extensions:

  • 6 May 1995 – Metrobudyvnikiv – Naukova (5 stations, 5.3 km)
  • 21 August 2004 – Naukova – 23 Serpnia (2 stations, 2.5 km)
  • 21 December 2010 – 23 Serpnia – Oleksiivska (1 station, 2.1 km)
  • 25 August 2016 – Oleksiivska – Peremoha (1 station, 1 km)
